IFLA Extraordinary Elections 2022: Nominations Open

On April 25, the nomination process for the extraordinary IFLA elections for a new president and treasurer began. Candidates have six weeks to present themselves, and members and affiliated organizations can submit nominations.

These extraordinary elections follow the resignation of IFLA’s previous President-elect and Treasurer, and take place in line with the provisions of IFLA’s Statutes, as approved by you – our members – last year. Successful candidates will serve a term until the IFLA General Assembly 2023.

The two open positions are of key strategic importance.

The President-elect has an essential leadership role, working with the IFLA President to provide inspiration and guidance to the Federation as a whole. Once their term as President-elect is complete, they will become IFLA President 2023-25.

The Treasurer will lead efforts to ensure the financial sustainability of our Federation, supporting our ability to support the field into the long term.

To ensure that we have people in these positions who can lead us into the future, IFLA is depending on you. We need great, diverse candidates to come forward, ready to share experience, energy and insights from around the world. Could you take on the responsibility, or do you know someone who could?

More information about each role and the requirements for candidates can be found on the relevant pages for the President-elect and Treasurer, including links to submit applications. The deadline for nominations is 18:00 CEST on 6 June 2022 (see what time this is for you), and further information about the process will be available on our main elections page.

We also need Members and Affiliates to submit nominations in order to validate candidacies. These will have received an e-mail with the necessary details and links. If you are a paid-up member or affiliate for 2021 or 2022, and have not received this, let us know at elections@ifla.org. Members or Affiliates joining IFLA by 20 May 2022 will also have the possibility to nominate.
