Why You Should Join Charleston In Between 2025 —
In Person or Online

Charleston In Between is back for 2025, and this year’s event promises bold conversations, global perspectives, and forward-looking insights into librarianship, publishing, and the evolving landscape of knowledge. Whether you’re attending in person or joining virtually, this is your chance to engage with a dynamic, international community of thought leaders who are shaping the future of our field.

Here are just a few reasons to register for Charleston In Between 2025:

1. Choose Your Format: In Person or Online

We know not everyone can travel, and that flexibility matters. That’s why Charleston In Between is fully hybrid. Join us onsite for in-depth networking, or participate virtually from wherever you are in the world. Either way, you’ll have full access to every session.

2. A Curated Program That Tackles the Big Questions

This isn’t just another virtual conference. Charleston In Between is designed for deep, honest dialogue. Our 2025 panels include:

  • Keynote presentation from Holden Thorp, Editor-in-Chief, Science

  • Libraries Under Fire: Defending Scholarship in a Time of Political Pressure – Understanding and addressing the escalating attacks on libraries, government censorship, and the fight for intellectual freedom in the US and how it is changing the research ecosystem worldwide.

  • Bridging the Gap: Honest Conversations Between Libraries and Publishers – Libraries and publishers share a commitment to connecting readers with knowledge, yet tensions often arise around policies, pricing models, and more. This candid conversation invites participants from multiple stakeholders to explore the roots of the challenges, focus on shared values, and identify practical steps toward more collaborative and sustainable partnerships.

  • AI Realities for Academic Libraries – Exploring the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on research, discovery, and library services with real-world examples from practitioners.

These sessions bring together diverse voices, from librarians and publishers to funders, scholars, and technologists, to grapple with complexity and seek collaborative solutions.

3. Access to Session Recordings Within 48 Hours

Every registered attendee will receive exclusive access to the full session recordings just 48 hours after the event ends. Recordings are embargoed for one month before being released to the general public, so you’ll be first in line to revisit insights or catch anything you missed. We’re partnering with Cassyni to bring our recordings to life by publishing with DOI’s, searchable transcripts, closed captioning and translation services.

4. Certificate of Participation for Professional Development

Need to show continuing education or professional development? All registered attendees will receive a certificate of participation, which can be a helpful addition to your annual review, tenure and promotion packet, or continuing education portfolio.

5. Real Networking, Not Just Panels

Charleston In Between is built around conversation. Whether you’re tuning in virtually or walking the halls in person, you’ll have opportunities to connect with peers, speakers, and colleagues who care deeply about libraries, scholarship, and access to information.

6. A Global Audience, Local Impact

Charleston In Between draws participants from around the world, but the conversations have immediate, local relevance. Hear how others are navigating the same challenges you face, and come away with ideas and strategies you can implement in your own institution.

Ready to Join Us?

Whether you’re seeking fresh insights, professional connections, or a chance to step back and think big, Charleston In Between 2025 offers a space for renewal and reimagination.

We hope you’ll join us and be part of the conversation.
