First Announcement / Preliminary Programs –
The 15th international Conference APE 2020

DRIVING THE CHANGE – TOGETHER!

Leibniz Hall – Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities

14–15 January 2020 in Berlin

APE 2020 Pre-Conference

VISION 2030: TRAINING TALENT FOR THE FUTURE – TOGETHER?

Hotel NH Connection Berlin Mitte at Checkpoint Charlie

13 January 2020 on Berlin

Ladies & Gentlemen, dear Friends and Colleagues,

a few words define the scope of APE 2020:

Together, Open & Opening, Collaboration, Change, Value, DEAL, Stakeholders, Funders, Researchers, Publishers, Librarians, Sciences & Humanities, HR, Learning & Training

I am very pleased to announce the Preliminary Programs for the APE 2020 Pre-Conference and the APE 2020 Full Conference on 13-15 January 2020 in Berlin. Those who have participated in previous APE Conferences remember that we are always very late with the Program. We normally start around the Frankfurt Book Fair. But in doing so we are always very actual.

Over the years, APE has become THE MEETING for all stakeholders in scholarly communications and scientific publishing and a quick look at the Program will convince you.

We do not work with abstracts. Our very broad Program Committee proposes topics and we invite speakers on a personal basis.

For APE 2020 Dr. Liz Marchant of T&F is coordinating program development and as always I take care of the overall organization.

APE 2020 offers a highly interesting mixture of Keynotes, Presentations, Panel Discussions, the APE Lecture, the Wake-up Session, the famous Conference Dinner and enough time for meeting colleagues and making new friends. APE conferences are very effective for networking.

The Pre-Conference is different in that we devote the Monday to Learning & Training, talent discovery, coaching, training, planning, change management.

Please note: APE always was a full house and each year we ended up with a waiting list. Already now we have 81 registered participants. So please make sure that you register in time. There is a very attractive rate for all three days and Members of STM, SSP, ALPSP, ICSTI, GI, Börsenverein enjoy a discount of 25%.

We have reserved a contingency of rooms in the conference hotel NH Connection Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie. The special event rate is valid until 30 November 2019. Compared with Amsterdam. London, Paris or New York hotels and restaurants in Berlin are very much affordable.

You may consider to spend the weekend in Berlin and enjoy a choice of three opera houses, the Philharmonic and the Concert House, many theatres and a seemingly endless number of museums.

Please contact me for any questions you may have, including touristic.
